Deepillusion

Tools

Immersive mixed-reality simulation.

A multi-award-winning mixed-reality VR simulator — the engine behind Blizzard's World of Warcraft dark ride at Gamescom. It fuses physical motion, large-format display and synchronized VR into a single show system built for location-based entertainment.

Creative approach

We built Deepillusion as a self-contained ride: a motion platform, synchronized headsets and a large-format display driven from one real-time engine. Motion, audio and visuals are frame-locked so the physical and virtual worlds move as one, giving every rider a convincing sense of presence.

Challenges

The hardest part was synchronization at scale — keeping motion, rendering and audio in perfect lockstep across multiple riders while staying reliable enough for continuous show days. The rig also had to be rugged and quick to reset between sessions without sacrificing image quality.

Outcomes

Deepillusion powered a bespoke, immersive VR experience for Blizzard's World of Warcraft at Gamescom Germany, running back-to-back sessions to sell-out crowds. It has since been refined into a reusable engine we deploy for location-based entertainment.
